As a gesture of goodwill, residents of Mehrabpur (a city located in Naushero District of Sindh) provided food and water to stranded passengers after their train met an accident on Friday. The Lahore-bound train was travelling from Karachi when it met an unforeseen accident near Mehrabpur. He has been confined with sub jail at the VIP room of a private hospital pertaining to prolonged hospitalization despite being under trial for a heavy corruption.The directives came from former chief minister Murad Ali Shah who asserted the further hospitalization as a private jail towards the end of his government’s tenure in Sindh.Memon and eleven others were indicted in the Rs5.76 billion corruption reference by NAB in October 2017 prior to his transfer from jail to a hospital on court’s orders.Memon was then shifted from Jinnah Hospital to the VIP ward of a private hospital in Karachi's Clifton area on May 18 after he was prescribed to undergo hydrotherapy.

BEIJING: China on Friday urged the international community to give full recognition and trust to the great efforts and sacrifices made by the Pakistani government and people for the fight against terrorism.“Pakistan's efforts in combating terrorism have won not only China but also many countries in the international community,” Chinese foreign ministry’s spokesperson Lu Kang said in his regular briefing while responding to a question regarding the listing of Pakistan on the Global Funding Terrorism Watch List by the FATF meeting.“We have always believed that the great efforts and sacrifices made by the Pakistani government and people for the fight against terrorism are obvious to all. The international community must give full recognition and trust,” he added.The spokesperson said in recent years, Pakistan has actively taken measures to strengthen financial supervision and crack down on terrorist financing and made important progress.“China hopes that all parties will treat Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts objectively and impartially, instead of relying on criticism and pressure,” he added.China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic partners, he said and added, China is willing to continue to strengthen cooperation with Pakistan in the anti-terrorism field.Responding to yet another question in this regard, he declined to make specific comments on the discussion of the Anti-Money Laundering Financial Action Task Force.He reiterated that Pakistan has made tremendous efforts and sacrifices for international anti-terrorism cooperation under its very difficult conditions.“The international community should treat Pakistan’s efforts objectively and impartially and give more recognition and support to Pakistan from the perspective of more effective counter-terrorism cooperation,” he added.

The MQM convener was tackled by discontented voters following the Friday prayers held at Kharadar’s Memon Masjid.Of the numerous objections raised opposing him, one of them had included him being advised to ‘ask for forgiveness’ while another chimed in complaining about being pestered to submit animal hides during the past Eid ul Adha days.Another complainant revealed: “You have been snatching animal hides for the past 25 years by brandishing weapons. Now you’ve come here to ask for votes.”The politician while attempting to escape the mob of complainants reassured them that the public would be provided improved service this time around.It may be noted here that despite being awarded a ticket, senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Dr Farooq Sattar has decided against contesting the July 25 general elections. Wall collision injures eight people after heavy rains in Lahore

A wall collision at a local mosque left eight people injured after heavy rains that have been pouring down over Lahore. Rescue officials have reported that the incident took place at Model Town’s Link Road which led to eight people getting gravely wounded under the collapsed wall.As per detailed reports, three of the injured received instantaneous medicinal aid by rescue teams who arrived at the scene, whereas the remaining five were moved to a hospital nearby where they recived further medical treatment. The Punjab capital and nearby areas received irregular spells of downpour which is still ongoing, making the weather pleasant after an extensive period of heat.Furthermore, the heavy shower has also resulted in tripping of over 100 feeders of Lahore Electricity Supply Company.

IHC's Justice Shaukat Aziz criticises Chief Justice of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui on Friday criticized the Chief Justice of Pakistan saying the top judge has no right to humiliate a judges in open courts.The remarks came during a hearing at the IHC in  an apparent reference to an incident which saw an additional and session judge tender resignation days  after being rebuked by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.The chief justice was on a visit to district courts in Larkana when he grilled the judge and also threw a phone on his work table after spotting the device there.The whole episode was aired by private TV channels. According to Geo News, IHC Chief Justice said if the CJ would not respect judges, the judges too has the right to defend themselves.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has allowed  former  prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to contest on NA-57 constituency.An appellate tribunal on Wednesday rejected nomination papers of Abbasi from National Assembly Constituency NA-57 in Murree.Rawalpindi's Election Appellate Tribunal judge Justice Ibadur Rehman Lodhi had reserved his judgement two days ago over a plea filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf worker Masood Ahmed Abbasi against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's nomination papers.The applicant stated that Khaqan Abbasi had tempered his records submitted to the Returning Officer and provided incorrect details about his properties.He said the former prime minister has encroached forest land of Lawrence College while he has also provided incorrect information regarding ownership of his property in Sector F-7-II.Admitting all the objections raised by applicant, the tribunal rejected nomination papers of Abbasi.The former premier is also a candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz from a National Assembly constituency in Islamabad.

Elections 2018: ECP extends polling time by one hour after PTI request

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday extended polling timings by one hour for the general elections scheduled to be held on July 25. The new timings, as per the ECP press release, will be from 8am to till 6pm.The polling will be held for 10 hours without any interval.The timings have been extended to facilitate the voters and to ensure that maximum voters participate in the election process.Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had requested the ECP on Wednesday to extend polling timings as it would be difficult for the voters to go out in hot weather to cast their vote.This is the first time in Pakistan’s electoral history that the polling timings have been changed. For the previous elections in 2013, the polling time for the voters was from 8am till 5pm.
